See Wedding Photos of Man that Cut Off Wife's Ear With Plier during Domestic Violence
11 months ago, Nonso Paul Nzedebe and wife Nwogo were happy in love, they had just gotten married.
Fast forward to last Monday, November 16th, and the unthinkable happens - Nonso allegedly cut off part of his wife, Nwogo's ears with pliers during a fight in their home. The wickedness is pictured below.
Insiders say Nwogo had been enduring so much abuse from her husband within the months they were married. She had hoped things would change for the better but not until their baby boy, Emeka arrived. Not long after she was discharged, Paul allegedly locked her up, beat her, and stabbed her with a knife.
Nwogo this time around ran to the police who invited Paul for interrogation. He allegedly never showed up at the station but rather, dealt his loving wife, the woman he had taken to the altar and vowed to provide for and protect, this unbelievable horror.
Here are photos from their court wedding, traditional and church wedding.

Abubakar Audu, APC’s Governorship candidate feared dead
Prince Abubakar Audu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the just concluded Kogi state election which the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared inconclusive is feared dead.
Abubakar Audu after voting
INEC returning officer for the election, Prof. Emmanuel Kucha of Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, said no party could be declared the winner yet since the numbers of cancelled votes was more than the difference between the first placed Prince Abubakar Audu of APC and the second placed Capt. Idris Wada of PDP.
Should the election not have been declared inconclusive the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Abubakar Audu, ought to have be declared the winner of the Kogi State Governorship election that was held on Saturday.
Prince Abubakar Audu, was the first Executive Governor of Kogi State and was born on 27 October 1947, to the family of his Royal Highness, the late Pa Audu Oyidi, Orego Atta of Igala Land and the paramount ruler of Ogbonicha-Alloma in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
He started his education at the then N.A. Junior Primary School, Alloma, and later N.A Senior School Ankpa, from where he proceeded to Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha. He later transferred to the Jos Commercial College where he obtained both the GCE O and A level

Mark Zuckerberg to take 2 months paternity leave when daughter arrives
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is planning to take two months off for paternity leave when his daughter is born. The excited father-to-be made the announcement yesterday on his official Facebook page. The company offers its US employees four months of paid maternity and paternity leave. In the post accompanied by a photo of baby toys, seat and their dog, he said outcomes are better for children and families when working parents take time off to be with their newborns. He wrote;
"Priscilla and I are starting to get ready for our daughter's arrival. We've been picking out our favorite childhood books and toys. We've also been thinking about how we're going to take time off during the first months of her life. This is a very personal decision, and I've decided to take 2 months of paternity leave when our daughter arrives. Studies show that when working parents take time to be with their newborns, outcomes are better for the children and families. At Facebook we offer our US employees up to 4 months of paid maternity or paternity leave which they can take throughout the year. Every day things are getting a little more real for us, and we're excited to start this next stage in our lives. Here's a photo of Beast with our baby seat. I think he knows something's up."

President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigeria join other peace-loving nations of the world in condemning Friday’s dastardly terrorist attack on a hotel in Bamako, Mali.
President Buhari assures President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and the people of Mali of the full support and solidarity of the Federal Government and people of Nigeria as they mourn those who lost their lives in the attack and strive to bring the surviving perpetrators to justice.

The President reaffirms that Nigeria, under his leadership, remains committed to deploying all necessary resources and working with friendly nations, regional, continental and global organisations to speedily overcome the continuing threat of terrorism to world peace and security.

First Lady of Zimbabwe, Grace Mugagbe faces backlash after shocking comment
While addressing thousands of Zanu PF supporters at a rally in Mberengwa this week, the First lady of Zimbabwe Grace Mugagbe said women who wear mini skirts have no one but themselves to blame if they are raped by sexual perverts.
"If you walk around wearing mini skirts displaying your thighs and inviting men to drool over you, then you want to complain when you have been raped? It’s unfortunate because it will be your fault."
Lol. What a daft statement! The First Lady then called on women to wear long dresses or trousers. She said the type of dressing, which left women’s legs exposed, was a result of moral decadence.
Assassination attempt on Ekweremadu- PDP suffering from induced Hallucination- APC
The leadership of APC has described as "induced hallucination" the allegations leveled against it by PDP that the party was planning to kill some PDP leaders including its acting National Chairman, Uche Secondus, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu amongst others.
PDP National Publicity Secretary Olisa Metuh while addressing newsmen at Legacy House in Abuja on November 18th accused APC of plotting to kill some of their key members following the attempted assassination of Ike Ekweremadu on November 17th.
In a statement by Timi Frank, the acting national publicity secretary of the APC described PDP’s allegation that APC was behind the attempt on Mr. Ekweremadu’s life as “induced hallucination”.
In the statement, Frank stated that it was unfortunate that the PDP had resorted to cheap blackmail. He said the past 16 years of PDP’s rule saw a minister, Bola Ige, politicians like Harry Marshall and Funso Williams assassinated with no attempt to unravel the mysteries that surrounded their deaths.
“It would therefore, be unfortunate for the PDP to elevate this strategic act it had perfected over the years to a political art or a propaganda tool,’’ the statement read.
I Don’t Pay Tithe And You Can’t Force Me, It’s My Hard Earned Money – Ghanaian Millionaire
Prince Kofi Amoabeng, the former CEO of UT Bank who says he believes in God and goes to Church only if there is a wedding or funeral, has revealed he does not pay tithe.
Yesterday, during an interview on Morning Starr, he said:-
“I don’t pay tithe.
I would not give 10% and nobody can force me to give 10% of my money to anybody. I do all sort of philanthropic jobs myself. I see where there is the need for me to help and I help. I don’t have to give it to somebody who then decides where to put the money. It is my hard earned money and I should put it where I want to put it.”

"What a Father told his Daughter a day before her Wedding".
My Daughter, tomorrow you will stop bearing my name. You will be happily married to the man you love. Dont miss me because I have fulfilled my purpose, it is now time for you to start fulfilling yours.
From your childhood, I have raised you well by the grace of God but before you say I do, there are few things I need to tell you about living with a man and being married. Do you remember when you wrote your, WAEC and JAMB exams? You came to me and I gave you 20,000 naira for the registration? Well, even though I gave it to you, the money was not mine. I know you always thought I paid the fees. The truth is, I was broke but your mother gave me the money She could have given it to you but she decided to give it to me to give to you.
Support your husband. Some times things will get tough he will befrustrated. Even though he acts tough, in his mind he has fears he fear you may not value him anymore because he has fallen. That is the time to get behind him and support him,the best way to show your husband you love him is to respect him! You may argue with him, you may disagree but at the end of the day, let him know he has your respect.
Do you remember the day I screamed at your mother? What did she do? She was quiet! Do you also remember the day she screamed at me? What did I do? I was quiet! My daughter learn to be quiet sometimes when your husband is angry. When one person is hot, the other should be cool. If two are always screaming at same time, that is how big problems start in marriage.
The first thing to know about your husband is his favourite food! If he has more than one then keep them at the back of your mind. Dont let him ask for it, always prepare it for him. There was a day your mother caught me touching a woman’s hand affectionately. I was lust after that woman but I was not yet cheating on your mum, when she saw us she didnt fight.
The lady, she quietly left. I was afraid of going home because all hell will break lose. But when I got home she said nothing. She served me my food. Guilt was taking control over me. I started begging. From that day, I never looked at a woman two time. Who knows? If she had fought and threatened me maybe I could have run away from the fight into the arms of the lady. Sometimes Silent brings better solution than fight.
Forget those romantic novels you read while you were 21. Remember those Indian and American love movies? Also remember those too sweet Nollywood films on African magic? Forget them! Don’t expect your married life to be that way life is different from fiction, the last thing I want to tell you do you remember how you were born?
After our wedding, things were tough and your mum had to do two jobs to support us. I was working as well. I get home 6 PM while she gets home 8pm tired. But when we get to bed she will not refuse me my night food. That is how you were born. Dont form a habit of denying your husband of his night food. Be a good wife. You will always Daddy’s girl..
Kogi decides
Elderly, pregnant women, others receive priority accreditation
Elderly persons, pregnant women as well as Persons with Disabilities are being given special priority to facilitate their accreditation for the Kogi governorship election.
The affected persons were being prioritised by the electoral officials in most of the polling units across the state.
Miss Juliana Nwadike, a corps member on election duty in one of the polling units, said that ‘’elderly men and women, people living with disabilities and pregnant women’’ were being accredited first before other eligible voters to make the process easier for them.
.
In Ajaokuta Local Government Area, NAN reports that most of the voters were youths while the turnout of women was low.
Some of the voters, who spoke, however, decried the slow process of accreditation by the officials handling the card reader machines.
Meanwhile, there was low turnout of voters in Okene and its environs.
Many of the polling units with an average of 500 – 700 voting population in the area only managed to accredit between 50 and 70 voters between 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
At Ogaminana, Nagazi and Obangede in Adavi and Okehi local government areas, the process was smooth.
Mr Torres Chrrs, a United States embassy observer, told NAN that the accreditation process was ‘’great and good’’.
At Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area, the exercise was also peaceful while voters turned out in large numbers to discharge their civic responsibilities.
Meanwhile, accreditation of voters commenced at about 8:45 a.m. at Idah in Kogi East Senatorial District with heavy presence of security personnel in most of the polling stations.
At New GRA ward, Unit 001, the Presiding Officer, Ms Joy Okonkwo, said that the two card reader machines deployed to the unit were in perfect condition.
At Ofukolo ward unit 006, the Presiding Officer, Mr Ubonnu Kelechi, however, told NAN that although electoral materials were adequate, the card reader machines were malfunctioning.
A correspondent who visited some of the polling units in the area reports that the turnout of voters was impressive as at 9 a.m. with women and youths dominating the process.
Ohanaeze disowns Nnamdi Kanu, Biafra
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the on Friday disowned the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and his cohorts in their struggle for the state of Biafra.
The Chairman, Forum of State Presidents of Ohanaeze in the seven Igbo –speaking states, in Awka, Dr. Chris Eluomunoh, said no right thinking person would support what he called the madness of the group .
He said:
“You will notice that Ohanaeze has been very silent on the issue of Biafra insurgency, though the youth wing of Ohanaeze has been speaking on it. Ohanaeze, as the Igbo cultural group, cannot support Biafra and we dissociate ourselves from it totally.
“Igbo people have contributed much to the development of Nigeria and we cannot allow some people to jeopardise the lives and efforts of millions of Igbo residing in all parts of Nigeria.
“We believe that anybody who has any issue to settle with the Federal Government should use dialogue and that is why we participated in the last National Conference. No sane Igbo person would want to witness a repeat of the kind of thing that happened during the Civil War.
“(Chief Odumegwu) Ojukwu, who led the Biafra war, returned to Nigeria from exile and contested elections in Nigeria, which showed that he was fully integrated into Nigeria and was a full-fledged Nigerian before he died.”
Eluemunor said that most of the agitation for a Biafran state came mainly from those living abroad.
He called on Pres. Buhari to declare a state of emergency on the infrastructure problem in the South East by rehabilitating the federal roads that have become death traps due to neglect.
He said doing so would help to correct the imbalances and marginalization being suffered by the Igbos.
He said:
“We know the marginalisation was not caused by him, but we plead that he should look into the problems being complained about by the people of South East and South–South. He has won the election and we in Ohanaeze support him and will work with him for the unity of the country.”

Woman who died in Paris raid was not wearing suicide belt
Investigators sorting through body parts from the flat raided by French police on Wednesday now believe Hasna Aitboulahcen, the woman who died there, was not the one wearing a suicide belt, a Police source said.
Headlines flashed around the world this week that Aitboulahcen had become Europe's first woman suicide bomber, after officials said they believed she had blown herself up at the scene of the raid in a northern Paris suburb.
One of the dead has been confirmed as Islamist militant Abaaoud. The other has yet to be identified.
"The initial findings from the special police indicated that it (the suicide belt wearer) was her," said the source. "But the skull we found on the pavement was not hers."
The fighting at the flat was so intense that not only were the police unable initially to identify the bodies, it took more than a day for investigators to establish that there had been three people and not two.
What a mother told her son a day before his wedding.
Mummy's boy , you are now a man. Tomorrow you
will have a new mother , a new cook and a new
person to share all your secrets with . It will no
longer be me but her . Love your new mum even
more than you love me . Before you walk into her
arms forever , let me give you some words to guide
you.
There was a day i was arguing with your father we
Were screaming , tempers were high . I was angry
and he was angry then i called him an idiot ! He was
shocked . He looked at me asking how dare i call him
that , immediately i Started calling him idiot , fool,
stupid , crazy. I called him all sort of name, guess
what he did ? He didn't raise his hands to hit me , he
just walked away bang the door as he went out.
My Son, If your father had hit me and destroyed my
eyes, how will you feel sitting here with me today?
How will you regard him as your father? Would you
have been proud of him or would you be blaming me
for calling him names? Never hit your wife! No
matter the provocation just walk away and things will
be normal. Whenever she offends you, think of this
story I just told you, it could have been your mum!
Before I forget, after he left, I was filled with guilt. We
slept on same bed that night and I went to him the
next day. I pleaded with him, I did all I could to show
am sorry and he forgave me. That day I cooked his
favourite food, yes you know he loves Affang soup
right? After that day, I never called him names, my
respect for him was ten times stronger.
There is something very important you must always
do, my son listen very carefully, defend your wife.
When she is under pressure, stand by her. If your
friends hates her, it is your duty to make them see
her as a Queen. Your Uncle, I mean Uncle Udeme
never liked me. But your father was always
supportive until his perception changed.
There was a day your Father was going to host the
owner of his company and friends. They were three
of them. That day I was in the kitchen cooking for
them and your father went to buy drinks. When the
table was set and food was served. Everyone started
eating. Then I remembered I did not add salt in the
food. I was embarrassed. Your father tasted the food
and looked at me. He immediately turned to the
guests. He told them that he instructed his wife last
month not to add salt whenever she is cooking
because of some problem with his body. He said it in
a funny way and everyone laughed! The guests
understood and he asked me to bring salt and
everyone added according to their taste. He managed
to eat the food without salt. After the guest left, he
went on his knees and asked God to forgive him for
lying.
Your wife is like a baby, sometimes she don’t know
what to say or do. Stand up and speak for her!
Now let me talk to you about sex. You see sex is a
wonderful thing. Do not be surprised if your wife
enjoy and need sex more than you do. There were
days, I needed sex more than your father and there
were days he needed it more than me but the
important thing is to always try to satisfy the other
when they need you. Don’t always think of your self
There was a time things were hard and I needed to
do two jobs to support your father. One night I was
so tired. When I got to bed he was in the mood. He
try to make love to me and I didn’t refuse him. I was
tired but I felt I needed to be there when he need me.
When he tried undressing me, he saw my look and he
stopped. He asked what was wrong and I said
nothing. But he understand me better. He stopped
and then started telling me stories until I fell asleep.
My son, Sex is best enjoyed when the two parties are
physically and mentally ready for it. Sometimes, read
your wife and understand her.
Make it a habit to go anywhere with your wife. Beside
your job, move around with her. If anyone invite you
to his house and told you not to come with your wife
then be very careful. Use wisdom.
I know you love mummy… I know you tell me all your
problems. But now things will be different.
Let your wife be the first to know me. Let her
be the first to see before me.
When you have problems with her don’t run to me
immediately. Wait for a day to pass and then talk to
her about it. Pray about it.
Finally, don’t forget to come and visit you me with
your wife very month!
I know you will have a happy home. You will always
be mummy’s boy.

Mr. President, are you for real? Etcetera
Etcetera writes below...
Dear President Buhari, I will like to extend an invitation to you for a tour of down town, so that you can have a clear view of what the people who voted you into office feel about certain decisions your government has taken so far, especially the decision to ban ‘I-pass-my-neighbour generator’.
Contrary to the picture your advisers have painted to you, the decision to ban ‘I-pass-my neighbour’ generators will only bring more hardship to the people down here who have never in any way, benefitted from the Nigerian government at any time. The little hope that your “change” mantra brought to the poor man is fast becoming another tale in the book of presidential lies.
So, for you to really understand the ramification of your decision, I urge you to come for a quick tour of down town. Don’t worry sir; it won’t cost you a thing. We will ensure that your visit is as comfortable as we can. Yes, we know you don’t take ‘shepe’ or ‘mishango’ or ‘Ghana root’ mixed with ‘draw-draw’. But don’t worry, we will have enough pure water available for you to cool your feet, wash your face and quench your thirst.
It is true that the streets down here are littered with broken water pipes and heaps of smelly refuse dumps as a result of lack of government presence. But babu wahala, we will see to it that your danshiki doesn’t get so messed up.
It will be nice to have you address the youths and explain to them why you have taken the decision to throw our streets into darkness and expose us to more terror from armed robbers.
Sir, have you considered the amount of small business operators that will be incapacitated by the ban you have imposed on ‘I-pass-my-neighbour generators’? Come sir, and see for yourself how many families will lose their source of livelihood simply because they cannot afford to purchase the bigger generators.
Sir, what becomes of the barber, the hair dresser, the recharge card seller whose business is run with ‘I-pass-my-neighbour’ generator? Have you considered the difference between N10, 000 generator and a N50, 000 generator? Do you think the people are happy using ‘I-pass-my-neighbour generators? Someone who earns as low as N15, 000 monthly, how do you expect him to buy and maintain a N50, 000 generator?
You should also consider they have other needs. I think this is a wrong move and one that will drive most self-employed youths into armed robbery and other illegal activities.
And ‘I-pass-my-neighbour generator kills? Hmmmm Mr. President, I thought hunger and bad roads have killed more Nigerians than generators? How come you haven’t placed a ban on hunger and bad roads? Is this a part of the “change” we should expect from this regime? Is this one of the groundbreaking ideas given to you by the new minister for power? How do we achieve steady supply of electricity by banning smaller generators?
What I see here sir, is the government favouring the rich against the poor. The importers of bigger generator will no doubt see this as a welcome idea; that is if they didn’t lobby for it. This is one of the most insensitive decisions taken by any Nigerian government. Shouldn’t it be a general ban on generators?
Is it that punishing the poor has become a goal in itself for the government? Too many affluent Nigerians – and, in particular, members of the political elite – seem to have no sense of how much suffering is down here on the streets.
Little wonder the governors woke up one morning and decided that they can no longer pay the N18, 000 minimum wage of workers. For these governors, what is really striking is the total disconnect between conventional wisdom and the reality of life – and death – for much of the nation. It is like there’s a badge of wickedness on the forehead of our politicians.
Sir, what we want is for you politicians to stop talking blithely about the importance of alleviating the sufferings of the masses and truly start looking at the way their less-fortunate citizens live.

Three suspects who have been alleged of robbing and raping female students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, were yesterday paraded by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade.
Among them was Kayode Oluwaseyi, a 400L student of the Department of Transport, of the university, who belonged to a notorious criminal gang called "3 Mopols." A toy gun used for their robbery operations was recovered from him.
His confession led to the arrest of Adeyemi Samuel Taiwo and Adeyemi Samson Kehinde but he tried exonerating the twins by saying they were not among the gang but they always bought stolen goods from him......
Relationship Advice
A man's greatest fear in life is cash while women greatest weakness is love...
Men may kill for money, women may die for love. A man without money will think he's cursed. No matter what a woman has in life, without love, it's not enough. When a woman finds true love she finds her joy. She will take unbelievable risks in the name of love. A woman in love is more powerful, reliable, faithful and loyal than hundreds of guards.
When a woman is in love, she may assume black to be white...
Any woman that has never been blindly in love has never fallen in love. Relationship is one thing that makes most women unhappy in life until they find the right one. A woman can be anything she wants to be in life, but when it comes to her emotion, her weakness shows forth.
She was told when growing up that a good character is the easiest way to get a man of her dream. She follows the advice but still ends up marrying a beast. Her life was put on hold in the name of love. She stayed in a relationship for 7yrs with a person who has no plan for her...
She was doing everything to make him happy and then again, the man thinks she's weak and desperate so he took advantage of her. Her age and family pressure gets her worried all the time. Everybody thinks something is wrong with her. Her situation makes her believe maybe they are right. The most painful thing about love is to fall in love with a person who has another thing entirely in mind...
To see him as your everything while deep inside him you are nothing to him. A woman in love is like a drunk person. She only realises the damage after the hangover when her eyes are cleared. Love is the only battle that women can't fight and win. Just when she says she's done with love ,she falls in love again. Love is a thing of the heart. It is hard for a heartless person to fall in love. Inside the heart of every heartbroken and divorced woman is an untold stories of agonies and pains. A broken promise, a shattered dream, a betrayed trust, a wasted time.
An unseen painful tears for raising the kids alone.
Her heart bleeds when she remembers the once sweet husband who has turned to a beast. It is easier for men to move quickly after divorce. But its really hard for a woman especially with kids. Most people are very quick to judge and condemn a single and divorced woman without knowing the pain she's gone through in life.
If a man marries many times he will be seen as a STAR but when a woman re marries, she will be called a SLUT. If she's free, she's loose and if she minds her own business they call her a snub.
If she's kind, people will say she's weak but when she becomes wise people call her a bitch.
Never blame her if you don't know what she's been through in life. If you haven't walked in her shoes don't run your mouth.
Dear readers, Never allow the mistakes of yesterday put your life on hold. Don't live your life in pains because your marriage doesn't work. Never allow anyone look down on you because you're still single or divorced. Anyone who has never walked in your shoes has no rights to judge you in life.
Most things that give way for divorce don't happen overnight but women overlook many things when they fall in love. Never go into a new relationship until you fully understand why the last one failed. A man that couldn't love your kids is not in love with you. A man that wins your love with money alone may not stay for long. A man that tells you pathetic stories about his ex wife will do more about you. A man that is control freak will make your life miserable. A man that feels like he's doing you a favour by dating you can mess up your life. A temperamental man that shouts on you might end up slapping you and beat the hell out you when you get married to him.
Never start a new relationship without praying to GOD and don't ever use prayer where action is required.

Suu Kyi and the Burmese “Spring” By Reuben Abati
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former president Goodluck Jonathan writes an engaging article on Aung San Suu Kyi,Myanmar's newly elected opposition leader who is taking over from the incumbent military led government.
The election victory of the 70 year old Noble Peace Prize winner ,who has spent most of her time in detention is widely celebrated as Myanmar's first openly contested election in 25 years.
Abati's article below
Aung San Suu Kyi writes in Letters from Burma:
“I have never ceased to be moved by the sense of the world lying quiescent and vulnerable, waiting to be awakened by the light of the new day quivering just beyond the horizon…”
That new day and awakening arrived on November 8 on Burma’s (Myanmar) 2015 election day and with the subsequent announcement of the final tally of the election results. But something even more remarkable happened. The military leaders have congratulated Suu Kyi and her party. The elections have been adjudged free and fair.
The ordinary Burmese who trooped out in large numbers as early as 6 am to vote, are excited. It is tempting to conclude that Burma has just had its own equivalent of a Spring! The people wanted change. They have voted for it. Aung San Suu Kyi is the symbol of their hope, the irrepressible icon of their struggle. The people of Burma have shown that if they are allowed to speak, they will speak clearly about what they want. The powerless of Burma have found power at the polls. It was a vote not necessarily against incumbent President Thein Sein whose reforms have further opened up Burma and made change possible, but a referendum on years of corrosive military repression.
The ruling party, the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) lost in its strongholds, military-backed candidates accepted defeat and even organized parties for the triumphant opposition. When the new government is formed, next year, over 100 former political prisoners will sit in parliament. And the spirit behind all of this is Aung San Suu Kyi, the venerated daughter of General Aung San. There is in the process that has just begun in Myanmar, (it is another beginning really), a touch of the ironic and the pleasurable.
But perhaps in the long run, a major aspect of modern Burmese history will come down to who between General Aung San, and Aung San Suu Kyi, his daughter has had the greatest emotional, political and spiritual impact on this South East Asian nation. The former negotiated Burmese Independence from the British and helped establish the modern Burmese army.
The latter, ever so proud of her father’s legacy and conscious of his spiritual hold on the Burmese psyche, has led the struggle for a certain kind of independence from a successor patrimonial military which has held the country hostage since 1962. Aung San’s daughter was over the years, rewarded with house arrest, harassment, vilification, detention and ugly name-calling.
In 1990, the National League for Democracy, which she founded and led, was denied victory at the polls. But Daw Suu Kyi has seized the Burmese public imagination in a manner that no one else has since her father’s time. On November 8, she led the NLD to the polls again, and has won a landslide victory over the military-supported ruling party, winning 387 of all 498 seats, with a majority in the Upper and lower Houses and across states and regions. This has brought so much excitement across the world. The winners are the people of Burma, for whom The Lady and the Golden Peacock (the NLD emblem) are the symbols of redemption.
The ruling party induced voters; still they voted according to their conscience. Burma’s rulers have congratulated Aung San Suu Kyi, with the attendant politesse about “reconciliation” and “accepting the people’s desire”. But all of that is the easy part. What has happened, despite the euphoria is a case of deferred democracy, given the in-built contradictions in the Burmese brand of democracy. The irony is that the change that the people have voted for may raise their hopes, but the reality of Burma’s complex politics may not deliver the prospects they seek. Voting for change is not enough, ensuring the substance of that change is the hard part. This is the reality today in Burma, as much as it is in Nigeria where the complexity of political change has a special and felt resonance.
It will most likely take a much longer time before democracy takes root in Burma. Elections may be substantially free and fair and the people may have spoken their mind, but five decades of military hegemony, transformed into a culture of praetorianism is the biggest threat. Burma’s military leaders have imposed on their country a unitary system that effectively puts the military in charge of the key aspects of the state, including internal security, justice, and a veto power over the Constitution. They have created a system, which ensures that they are in no way answerable to any civilian. They get 25% of the seats in parliament, not through the ballot but automatically, and they reserve the power under the Constitution to veto any legislation.
Their excuse, for five decades has been that this is a “disciplined democracy”, to protect Burma from intrusive external influences, and ensure national unity and solidarity. But the same military establishment has failed to build institutions or encourage practices that will achieve unity or sustainable development. The economy is poorly managed, human rights abuses are prosecuted as state policy, and after decades of civil war, Burma remains sharply divided along religious and ethnic lines.
The people of Burma have demonstrated in 1990 and now again in 2015, that they will like to be masters of their own destiny and not be teleguided by the military. Until the tension between freedom and control in Burma is resolved and the people’s will is allowed to prevail, there can be no real democracy.
And this is why the international community must continue to insist on true democratization in that country. Mere civilian presence is certainly not democratic control. The Constitutionalisation of military domination is as ominous as the overt intrusion of the military and security forces into the political process and the policy centre: another point that should resonate well in our own context in Nigeria.
In Myanmar, the shape of things to come is already evident. Aung San Suu Kyi is leader of the NLD, but she cannot be President. Article 59(f) of the 2008 Constitution, deliberately inserted to stop her from ever becoming President bars anyone who is married to a foreigner or has children with foreign citizenship from occupying that office. Suu Kyi’s late husband, Michael Aris and her two sons are British. The making of laws to achieve the purpose of either vendetta or exclusion is a feature of dictatorships. Burma’s Constitution is at variance with the people’s hopes, expectations and sovereignty.
Only a people’s constitution will signal a new beginning. Given the present situation, how Suu Kyi and her NLD manage their relationship with the military will determine whether the events of the last week are real or illusionary and whether the new parliament will be the engine room of democracy or change or the decorative assembly that the old guard has made it.
Suu Kyi will remain the major factor as she has been since she went into partisan politics in 1988. She has waited for so long for this new day and she has left no one in doubt that she intends to exercise power and authority. She intends to be “above the President” in her capacity as party leader. “I’ll take all the decisions”, she has declared. A figure-head President under the watchful eyes of a superior leader could be an arrangement for instability, or distractions as has been seen previously in Indonesia and Malaysia. Suu Kyi, also referred to as Mother Suu Kyi must guard against the contradiction of being a symbol of democracy and becoming at the same time, a parody of her former tormentors. It is important not to promote provocations.
It is certainly still a long road to travel in Myanmar; as winter endures, the people hope for decent survival, a better economy, respect for human rights, including minority rights, a good life, in an open society. Whatever happens, the example of Aung San Suu Kyi: how an innocent woman became one of the most fiery defenders of the powerless in human history, will continue to inspire both men and women across the world. When will Nigeria produce our own San Suu Kyi? Or Indira Ghandhi? Or Hillary Clinton?

Buhari Trekker Commits Suicide Over Unfulfilled Promises
Nigerians are no longer smiling, yet refused to complain but prefer to die having made the worst mistake of their lives in supporting the present Buhari government.
The situation is practically getting excruciatingly unbearable even worse than envisaged with untimely deaths happening here and there.
First it was in Abuja, then Port Harcourt, and now this…
Learnt from a reliable source that one of the trekkers for the purported electoral victory of Buhari has hung himself to death, in fulfilment of the promise he made before the trekking competition.
The man here, it was alleged, made some promises to friends and family members in Jalingo, to trek from Jalingo to Abuja if Buhari wins, but will not fail to hang himself in the event that Buhari fails to perform or things goes worse than before.
This man went on the trekking business with every hope that Buhari is the messiah to turn around Nigeria , especially when he (Buhari) preached about “stabilising the global oil market” and many other things like free foods.
Having waited for well over 5 months and no sign of improvement as the reverse becomes the case, the promising young man had to take his life by hanging to avoid political taunts and mockery from his friends and neighbors, coupled with an unbearable hunger and starvation flogging his entire household.
What a world!
Fellow Nigerians, my humbly advise is that as much as mistakes have been made of which the consequences are staring at every Tolu, Dike, and Haruna. Let’s make it a point of duty to stop taunting those who did the unimaginable in support of the failure we have in Nigeria today.

Facebook makes its best effort at being a shoulder to cry on post-breakup
Anyone who has ever gone through a ‘Facebook official’ breakup understands that the current algorithm Facebook uses automatically shuffles all of your ex’s posts to the very top of your feed, bolds their name every time it occurs, and plays “Hurt” by Johnny Cash each time you log on.
Okay, some of that might be a matter of perception. Nevertheless, it sure seems like going through a breakup in the digital age basically guarantees that you’re soon to be bombarded by images of your ex having the time of their life. Facebook is looking to ease this transition.
Facebook Product Manager Kelly Winters made a post to the Facebook newsroom site explaining the changes. The way it works is that, after you change your relationship status from “In a relationship” to “single,” you’ll be presented with a kind of breakup navigation module. Facebook will ask you a series of questions and give you a handful of options to give you more control over how much you see of your ex.
You can choose to hide your ex’s posts from yourself, and when you go to tag someone, their name won’t appear in the list of suggestions. It works the other way too. You can arrange it so that your former lover sees less of you as well.
There are a few other options as well. These changes don’t completely block your ex and are temporary, allowing you to gradually come back around to being cool with each other. This is interesting to me, because it means that someone somewhere must have been tasked with coming up with some formula to approximate post-breakup healing time.
Facebook is rolling this feature out to US mobile apps, and based on how well it’s received, they’re planning on expanding it from there.

Babalola, Emmanuel through to Dala Hard Court semis

Abdulmumuni Babalola won the battle of wits against perennial rival, Shehu Lawal to book a place in the semi-final of the 2015 Dala Hard Court Tennis Championship holding at the Kano Tennis Club, Kano.
Babalola’s decision to skip last week’s the NTF/Atawodi Top 16 tournament in Abuja- which Lawal incidentally won- seems to be paying off as he is just two wins away from carting home the top prize.
After enjoying a walk over on Wednesday, Babalola was expected to face his biggest test in Lawal and that was the way the things went as he was outplayed by Lawal in the opening set which he won in commanding fashion as he broke his opponent twice in succession in the second and fourth game of the opening set but Babalola level up paying Lawal back with two breaks in the second set to force a rubber decided.
Now at the positive edge of the psychological see-saw, the Ibadan-based left-handed Babalola was decisive in his approach at the final set hitting a stretch of winners to seal the game much to the surprise of the fans as Lawal had looked unstoppable having edged the top seed and defending champion, Clifford Enosoregbe in the first round.
Youngster Sylvester Emmanuel also produced a great display to beat 2013 CBN Open champion, Henry Atseye 5-7, 6-2, 7-6(3) in a fierce battle which lasted over two hours.
The semifinal places is completed by the duo of Moses Micheal and Thomas Otu who both posted wins over Emmanuel Sunday 6-2, 6-4 and Nonso Madueke 6-3, 6-4.
The Women’s Singles went the way of form as the No1 seed, Christie Agugbom defeated Blessing Samuel 7-6 (4), 6-3 to set up a final clash with second seed Sarah Adegoke, who advanced after Aanu Aiyegbusi retired in the first set with Adegoke leading 3-0.
The Men’s semifinal matches hold Friday while the final of both singles categories is scheduled for Saturday.
Please read this ooo: PDP Releases List Of Key Members Allegedly Marked For Death By APC
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that some of its key members are currently been targeted and marked for death by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was disclosed in a statement by Chief Olisa Metuh, the national publicity secretary of the PDP in a press conference to address the alleged assassination attempt on Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu.
Addressing newsmen, Metuh alleged that Ekweremadu was not the only PDP member targeted, and other key members allegedly marked for death include Uche Secondus, the acting national chairman of the party, Dr. Haliru Bello, the acting national chairman of the Board of Trustees, Sen Godswill Akpabio, the Senate minority leader, and Hon. Leo Ogor, the minority leader in House of Representatives, among others, Leadership reports.
He said: “As you are aware, on Tuesday, November 17, there was brazen attempt at the life of Ekweremadu on his way to work bringing to the fore fears that the era of political assassination may have returned to our dear country.
“We had also informed Nigerians that key PDP leaders were being trailed and that the government should be held responsible should any of them suddenly become victim of ‘terror attacks’, unexplained accidents, kidnapped or suddenly killed by ‘armed robbers’.
“Nigerians are witnesses to the growing draconian proclivity of this government, the increasing muzzling of opposition using security forces, judicial persecution and other devious means aimed at decimating our party to pave way for the imposition of one-party state, all in the desperate bid by this particular regime to forcefully retain power in 2019.
“The PDP does not mince words in holding the APC responsible for the Tuesday attempt on the life of the Deputy Senate President. As you are well aware, APC leaders have not hidden their bitterness and resentment towards Senator Ekweremadu, whose offense is the privilege of being elected as Deputy Senate President, in line with the Standing Rules of the Senate and provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Is it not shocking that Senator Oluremi Tinubu , in furtherance of their plan to take over the office of the Deputy Senate President, went ahead at plenary today to occupy his seat and attempted to assume the duties associated with that office
“Intelligence information available to us however indicates that Senator Ekweremadu is not an isolated target, as notable PDP leaders, including our Acting BOT Chairman, Bello Haliru Mohammed, Acting National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus National Secretary, Prof. Adewale Oladipo and members of the National Working Committee, Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, House Minority leader, Hon. Leo Ogoh among others have also been penciled down for assassination.
“We have further information that some desperate power-mongers close to President Muhammadu Buhari, particularly those privy to his interest to contest the 2019 presidential election, and who have been reading his body language against the opposition, have gone ahead to establish a killer squad to wipe off strong opposition, deeming such a service to the President.
“This killer squad, our intelligence further revealed, has key marksmen recruited from within and outside the country with directives to trail, track down and hit strategic opposition elements and instill fear among PDP members.
“Additionally, we have verified reports from our elected members, especially those in the National Assembly that agents of the APC and the government have been approaching and threatening them to join their party or face victimization should they refuse.
“We therefore want the international community to note this ugly development in our country and hold the government responsible should any unexplained harm befall any PDP leader. This government should be held responsible should any PDP leader be visited by ‘armed robbers’.
“The PDP hereby draws the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari to this disturbing development as the onus lies on his to come our clear and moderate the political temperature of the country by calling his overbearing party members and security officials to order.”
Metuh also stated that the ordering of the arrest of the former national security adviser (NSA) Sambo Dansuki, was based on the verdict of a subjective administrative panel, which was present to indict him.
The PDP spokesman further warned about the manipulation of the Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections using the security forces and some compromised INEC officials and called on the Directorate of Military Intelligence to keep off issues concerning politicians.
According to him, the PDP has never raised any false alarm on national issues.
On Tuesday, November 17, the deputy president of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, reportedly escaped a suspected assassination attempt.
Uche Anichukwu, the deputy Senate president’s spokesperson, said the attempt occurred on his way to work at about 10am between Apo Flyover and Dantata Construction Company’s yard, close to the Old Central Bank of Nigeria headquarters junction.
The suspected assassins reportedly operated in a tinted white-coloured Mercedez Benz AMG E63 without a plate number. The driver was a long-bearded light skinned foreigner, probably a mercenary, Anichukwu said.

Diezani Madueke's family reportedly outraged over Dele Momodu's visit
In an interview with SaharaReporters, Mrs. Alison-Madueke's Nigerian lawyer, Oscar Onwudiwe, asserted that the ex-minister never intended or authorized anything from that meeting to be broadcast to the public.
According to Mr. Onwudiwe’s account, Mr. Momodu, publisher of The Boss magazine, “met (with Diezani) on a personal visit with the family.” He added that Mr. Momodu and the family had enjoyed a good relationship in the past.
Even so, Mr. Onwudiwe insisted that no permission was ever granted to have Mrs. Alison-Madueke’s photo taken. He stated that the ex-minister’s family became “very upset” about what has transpired after the meeting between Mr. Momodu and the former minister. The lawyer disclosed that Mrs. Alison-Madueke and her family were not ready for her to make public statements yet.
When SaharaReporters contacted Mr. Momodu, he said he did not know who Oscar Onwudiwe was, adding that he therefore could not have sought permission from the lawyer. He added, “I do not want to be drawn into this controversy.”
6 Types of Guys That'll Forgive a Cheating Girlfriend
"Cheating" (a slang used to connote infidelity in marriages, relationships and partnerships) is one of the most intolerable offences in relationships which oftentime leads to a break up.
However, we hear of cases where a partner is caught cheating but gets forgiven. Is this weird or something?
Well, speaking from a Male perspective, guys HARDLY forgive a cheating girlfriend.
The worst thing you can lose in a guy is his trust.
Once the trust goes out of the door, love, care and every other bond you both had will leave through the window. (it could be immediately, it could be gradual, but it eventually does)
Nevertheless, there are guys who wouldn't mind keeping their girl despite catching them red-handed and their categories could be stated as follows:
1.) The Low Self-Esteem Guys:
These kind of guys simply think they can't find anyone better or that no one else would be willing to accept him like she did so they'd rather stick around and 'manage' her like that.
These type piss me off!
They are usually ugly, broke, lazy, dull and have no potential at all.
2.) The Vengeful Guys:
Oh boy, these ones no get joy at all oh. Once they discover you've been shining other guys kondo behind their backs, they simple delete whatever love they feel for you and will keep crushing your honeypot until they just get tired and dump you outrightly. The after-effect is usually very bad on the lady and could immediately destroy her worth especially if he has pounded her many times, publicizes it and tells his pals how awful you stink down there!
Damn! Hard guys!
3.) The Freestyle Guys:
These ones don't love you. They are almost like the 'hard guys' stated above but they simply don't give a cockroach egg what you do with your honeypot. All they care about it "chop make I chop, no be me own your stuff".
In most cases, they were even cheating on you with someone else before finding out about yours so they won't even feel it.
They'll simply join the long chain of guys out there and destroy your onions, and when they feel your services are no longer required, you know what's next.
4.)The "I am a Gentleman" or the "Jesus" Guys:
These kind of guys can pretend for Africa!
Jeez! I really hate people like this.
They first feel inferior to the guy she's cheating on them with and when she begs for forgiveness, they make her believe he loves her better than the other guy possibly can.
It is usually common with guys who haven't tasted the honeypot before catching her red-handed so they wouldn't wanna lose all the money they've spent on her and try to keep her so he'll try to get under her skirt to get back all he invested on her.
A common statement they tend to say is "You know I'll always treat you like an angel that you are."
Green snakes!
5.)The 'Yakub' Guys
Hehehehe relating to one thread that sprung up earlier, these type of guys are even unsure of their place in the girl's life (whether the true man or just a tool used to kill boredom). So, like the low self-esteem guys, they'll just hang on and try to decipher what you're up to, come to Nairaland to ask for advice and....... just hang on sha.
They don't know whether to end it or continue. They're just there.
6.)The Truly Loving Guys:
Mehn, this ones are extremely rare!
I salute their "love" oh.
They have what every Lady wants in a man yet they choose to give this cheating lady another chance.
Mind you, their trust becomes very fragile and any seed of doubt planted once again would result to a garden of heartbreak for the lady.
They may have tasted the honeypot a thousand times but they're never tired of the love they have for the lady and they don't cheat.
